The Cumbria Designs T-1 system incorporates all of the stages, from mixer to audio, that go to make an SSB/CW transceiver. Add a Local Oscillator, Preselector and transmit amplifier to form a complete transceiver on any band of your choice - from 140kHz to 400MHz. At the heart of the T-1 system is the main transceiver sub-system module. This broad band design employs high performance diode ring mixers, monolithic amplifiers and discrete low noise devices to deliver excellent sensitivity and strong signal handling performance. IF bandwidth is defined by crystal filters, the T-1 filter kit comprises of two filter units; a dual 6 pole SSB/CW filter module at the input to the Cascode IF stages and a two pole "tail end" filter after the IF to reduce wideband noise. Whilst the PCB has been designed to accommodate the T-1 filter kit it is possible to use commercial filters in the range 2MHz  to 12 MHz. 

Low noise audio stages and a very effective full wave audio agc system combine with the IF performance to produce excellent audio quality and wide AGC range. A unique feature of the T-1 is the access for controlling it's internal signal routing and stage DC switching. A 16 way connector serves as the control interface for selecting functions and controlling transmit/receive operation. The interface has been designed to work over a wide range of levels allowing direct connection to logic devices or simple switch/relay control schemes at the nominal 12v supply. The T-1 Controller (due March 2005) exploits the flexibility of the T-1 interface to provide fast transceive switching, full CW break in operation with adjustable hand time, hang AGC and simple access for controlling the T-1 operational functions. 

Whilst we include a comprehensive manual this is a complicated kit and is therefore recommended only for those who are experienced in assembling RF circuitry. The Cumbria Designs T-1 requires additional accessories to be fully functional, these include microphone, key, speaker and AF/IF gain control pots - and a 12 Volt power source of course!
